This MAY have been the way things USED to be 5+ years ago, but times they are a changing. Printing companies no longer have the antiquated typesetting printers or setters. The number of fonts means nothing anymore.
The trend of plain black and white business cards are fastly falling to the wayside as is the "Keep It Simple Stupid" platform. Printer Companies now have full color printers printing directly from computers and software. I have been working in print media for awhile now and NONE of my designs have lost anything in the printing process. Probably has something to do with the designing at 300dpi and Scaling at the quality translates with very little loss.
If you choose to stay and think INSIDE the box instead of keeping up with trends you are most assured to be left behind.
