I've had it easy in a way by living in hot environments and not liking air conditioning
very much. But when I hear news reports about cold fronts comming into an area
I'm experienced enough to know that some people will freeze or go broke by turning
the heat on. Low income people who have $2000 in savings can get their entire
savings wiped out in 3 months of really cold weather n the north USA.

USA is a country of multiple weather zones. Some zones don't ever pay shit and
some zones get hit hard. The ones getting hit hard with cost actually get hit harded
and harder as the weather gets brutal because the big power company can't ever
get the money out of the south.
So it's not like they can really share the burden of the cost over all customers like
insurance companies do.

Don't ever rent an apartment in New York City unless the building has a furnace and
the heat is included. You'll be broke forever after just one winter otherwise.
