Maybe not, not now, but I saw Steve Martin at the Troubadour in 1975, a few weeks before his first appearance on "NBC's Saturday Night."
I was getting over a cold, and I could not laugh without unleashing a really nasty cough.
I almost died that night. His now-familiar routines were brand new, honed from years of night-by-night stand-up experience and
I could not laugh.
And if you ask me, the new "Pink Panther" movies are as much a slight to Peter Sellers as Gus Van Sant's "Psycho" was an insult to Alfred Hitchcock. Greatness endures, no matter what follows.
