Its called the Miller Test and it defines what obscenity is in the United States. It is a community based standard. Scat and or pissing videos are not necessarily "illegal" but they are at the fringe and in most places would be found to be obscene under Miller. However, the defendant doesnt know that the video in question is illegal until the jury comes back with a guilty verdict and then its a little too late....
The recent obscenity prosecutions -- Issacs, Max Hardcore, Stagliano and a guy in Indiana, have all been basically based upon excrement and fisting. The guy in Indiana was popped for fisting videos and I am pretty sure he took a plea.
