Seems like a pretty simple solution to crack it open, grab some shit from Radio Shack, and take 30 minutes to do it yourself.
It's not difficult. I've done a bunch of them. I've got a pile of what were once broken units sitting here waiting for new homes.

Mine is 14 months old( actually made in Oct 2007 ). I went online and requested a repair and I got it free because it was RROD( 3 red lights ). Unless your 360 is very new( then it's covered under the 1 year warranty ) most of them are covered for the RROD for 3 years.
