Seems like a pretty simple solution to crack it open, grab some shit from Radio Shack, and take 30 minutes to do it yourself.
It's not difficult. I've done a bunch of them. I've got a pile of what were once broken units sitting here waiting for new homes.

And the RROD warranty is for 3 years, As long as my system is in the warranty, I'm not fucking with anything, I'll let them do it. If it happens outside of the warranty, then fine, I had a good 3 years with no problems, I'll pay the $30 to have the fix done by someone else, and give it to my 7 year old nephew so he has a system, then cough up another $200 for a brand new one again.
