If one group controls 90% of a country that in definition is stable. Unless we plan on killing 10,000s of people the Taliban will always be there. Unless we plan on invading Pakistan the Taliban will always be there. Diplomacy with the Taliban is the only thing that will stop 10s of thousands of innocent people from dying or even more if we invade Pakistan, making them 100x more unstable than Iraq. Oh yeah they have nukes that could fall into militants hands.
In recent days the Taliban has been willing to go to the table. They now have a cease fire with Pakistan.
