It seems like Wtent already went in and was nice, and the niceness got him a 5500.00 quote for a transmission out of warranty only 20 days. Maybe he should bring them in some flowers next, they might slide a burning red hot poker up his ass for that niceness.
Listen you always start with the salesman that sold you the car first. If you have already talked to the service manager for the dealerships shop and he won't help you, you say " ok " then you go find your salesman. Normally the salesman will go "represent you" and see what he can get done. If that doesn't work you say, can I talk to the dealership owner please? They are not going to burn a loyal customer for a repair less than a month out of warranty, especially when you have been going there loyally to have the vehicle serviced also. You raise a fuss. Im not saying going in there and start screaming. Im saying you escalate things as needs warrant. Calling Nissan will get you shit. Normally the dealership owner is accessible to customers. Low level service managers are only going to tell you what is in their estimate books. They look at the retail cost on the Transmission, they look at their standard labor rates, and what the book tells them the job will require hour wise. There is an incredible amount of flexibility in all those numbers if its the choice of keeping a loyal customer or not.
So all I was saying is don't lay down on your stomach with a pillow under your lap and spread your cheeks. 20 days out is normally a very very very very easy thing to be overcome.

Actually calling corporate is a better chance of getting it taken care of. You call nissan , it goes to the field service manager in the area. He calls you, you tell him how upset you are you bought a nissan because they are reliable and this happened, you trusted it to noone but the dealer. Then the field guy calls the service manager and will ask about the service record. If its all there. he is going to do something especially since its 20 days out. The dealer is being a dick, the SA should of said we have a customer who did all his services with us and he is 20 days out and his tranny is gone. The service manager should of said either let me see the file or he looks it up on the computer. Because if he did everything with them, there then is a question did they fuck up. If there is none then he should be calling the FM asking for good will to cover it. Since they just told him $5500 they are dicks. Also going to the salesman is a waste because first off chances are he isnt there anymore or if he is unless you buy fleets of cars from him he doesnt give a shit.
