There is a secret room buried under the Sphinx in Egypt. This has been confirmed by sonar (and reported by Discovery Channel), but the Egyptian government has forbidden excavation.
For years alternative history people have said that the Egyptians did not build the Sphinx (and there were claims of the room even BEFORE sonar was brought in). Well just recently Egyptian authorities admitted that the face we see today is not the original, and that it was re-carved at some point.
The original purpose of the Sphinx was to house a library underneath it, and the massive lion statue is merely a marker. This was done by those who created Atlantis. All of their knowledge is in the library.
