That's been going on for decades and decades. In fact, most of the points were WORSE in the past. The same way people think there is more war now, there is actually less. People think there is more crime now, it's actually less. People think pollution is worse now, it's actually cleaner.
People always think "their" time is right before things go down the shitter. But every generation thinks that.
