Some people believe that you are in hell. That the souls on this place we call Earth are actually angelic misfits of sorts who followed the wrong leader. All of those souls were banished to hell > Earth > prison planet. These misfit angels were given x amount of time to "get it" or they would suffer the wrath or god. And before you go into saying that's a bunch of new age B.S. these are actually ancient beliefs (pre-bible). The bible would be considered the "New age." More or less what I'm telling you is within the current "New age" religious texts so if you believe in those things that's what you get to look forward to because as the bible says, you're time is up.
Which would mean that your soul would be banished to this hell we call earth for an eternity if you don't know why you are here.. Think about from a ghostly story aspect. Every time it's the soul is stuck here on Earth for one reason or another. Wouldn't that mean that they weren't allowed to return to somewhere? Perhaps because they didn't figure out why they were here and how to get back?
