I was the same way. In my younger days I leaned Republican but realized the party was just a fake shell of what it once was. Some people figured that out, but many have not.
A good line I heard about Rush Limbaugh is that he is to the Republican party today what Jesse Jackson was to the Democrats in the 80s. What his fans don't realize is he is a media guy. He cares about how popular he can get. The more fucked up the Republican party is and the more it wanders without a true leader, the bigger he becomes. I don't blame him because that's his job, but people who think he is doing what he does for the good of the party or the good of the country are truly being taken advantage of.
