those kinds of stores are just one part of the progression of economic growth. its all about supply and demand - they eventually get phased out. people vote with their wallets in a free market... like it or not. if people want something, someone steps in to fill that demand. if that demand isn't strong enough... there isn't a big enough market to justify it.
"the problem" in this case seems to be cheaper goods. horrible.
ironically, you have to argue that people want something different... i.e. there is a demand for something different.. yet consumers don't agree with you. Comrade Mao would certainly praise your efforts and ideas however.
people who resent Wallmart typically resent authority... and that is the root of the issue. it obviously isn't the consumer and what they want that is the concern.
