Bush Administration Succeeded In Iraq, Cheney Tells Sunday Talk Show
Miami, FL (AHN) - Former Vice President Richard Cheney told a Sunday cable television talk show that the Bush administration accomplished almost everything it sought out to do in Iraq since the United States invaded the country in 2003.
"I think it's my general sense of where we are with respect to Iraq at the end of now, what, nearly six years is we accomplished nearly everything we set out to do," Cheney said on CNN's State of the Union Sunday. "We have succeeded in creating in the heart of the Middle East a democratically-governed Iraq, and it is in fact what we set out to do."
Cheney called out the press and critics of the Bush administration to acknowledge the gains made in that country, including falling levels of violence, Iraqi troops taking over much of the security situation there and democratic elections.
"But I would ask people, and the press, to take an honest look at the circumstances in Iraq today, and how far we've come," Cheney said.
