Tinting can look odd from the outside so I wouldn't do it unless its a small window on the back of your house.

I had a house with 1 side of 3 stories worth of windows that all opened up into the main living area.. We didn't want massive drapes or blinds so we tinted the windows.. from the outside it looked black but because it was uniform it looked good..

Often anyways when it is darker inside the house then it is outside the window will appear black anyways..

But if only 1 window is tinted you will be able to tell..

You might want to think of putting the desk perpendicular to the window and door..

So the windows are to your left or right and your door is to your other side.. this is how I am positioned in my office and the sun does not cause a problem..

Blinds really work well tho.. You can block the direct sun but not your view outside..
