It always makes me laugh when people talk about 'shitty content'. If the content is selling well, and even "better than high end productions", then it's pure gold. Far from shit IMHO.
Take into account profit margins, and maybe the bell will go off for many in this industry that we are a BUSINESS. I know for me personally. I am in this industry to make money. Sure, I agree with Jim and others it is nice to take pride in your work. However, Capture, Gunn, Markham all are skilled photographers. I am a business man. You find out what sells, make it for a good price, high margins, and capitalize.
This is about making money. Not fancy pictures. No offense meant to anyone.
That said, I am going to assume you mean, 'low end productions' versus 'shit.
