Divx 7 AVOID AT ALL COSTS

OK I got email announcing divx 7 which supports h.264 in mkv containers..Im thinking divx has done well for me I will try it out

first I want to upgrade from 6.8 but I cant even get the price because I dont know my serial number and it isnt in an about file or anything anyplace so I send em an email asking for it (I still havent gotten it)

so Im like OK they got a 15 day trial I will try that

I install it and run it

I load it with a couple of AVCHD clips from my Panny these are H.264 they play fine on xbox360 or PS3 or whatever I try to encode to 720P it gets an Unknown error, ditto on 1080P ditto on home theater

so I take a precompressed H.264 file from my site It crashes the entire app

so I take an hd wmv file (1080P) it encodes that as follows

home theater to 640x480

720P to 700x400

1080P to 1280x720

Obviously these are nowhere near 720P or 1080P and the quality is markedly lower than my source file which is at 3Mbps

now the real kicker is when I go back to use my old version (that I paid for mind you) it no longer works...the trial version over wrote my paid version of 6.8 needless to say this is garbage

dont bother
