I had a problem with this when I first started doing this full time. I had a friend who called me up one day and told me he had to work late and so did his wife and asked if I could go over to their house and meet his son when he gets off the bus from school and hang with him for an hour or so until one of them get home. No problem. I am always happy to help a friend. Well, this quickly turned from being a one time favor to something they wanted me to do 3-4 times a week. I also had other friends calling to ask if I could do this or that for them while they were at work. Finally when I said I just couldn't they said, "But you don't have a real job." I had to explain that I put in more hours than most of them do at their jobs and if I take 3 hours out of my day every day to watch their kids that is 3 more hours I have to work that night. Finally we had a talk and I explained I am happy to help people, as long as it isn't something that happens every day or all the time because I need to work.
Eventually we came a pretty good understanding and they came to realize that contrary to popular belief I have shit to do and work hard. )
