10 years ago, when I was in the marines I was stationed at gitmo for a year. as far as scenery is concerned, it is a nice place. The water was beautiful - clear as a bell. The nice beach she was talking about was probably one of the beaches reserved for officers - cant have us lowly enlisted personnel messing it up, though the ones we had access to were pretty nice as well.
I dont know how the facilities for the detainies of changed, if they have at all, but they werent horrible, decrepit places back then(gitmo was the center for migrant ops back then - when all the people from the caribian were trying to float up to florida to get in the US)
I get what she was saying, because I have been there myself, but I would venture to say that she isnt smart enough to get her point across so that people that have not been there know what she is talking about, so they end up thinking that it is propeganda. I would venture to say that, other than waterboarding, they probably get treated fairly well down there.
