I am a turk and I dont' care what the opinions on turkey entering the E.U are, it will happen eventually down the road, not because of a desire but a necessity. Currently there are millions of turks spread throughout Europe fulfilling jobs that a lot of the europeans won't touch. In germany alone there is 3 million turks, not a small number by any means. The nation of turkey is the biggest middle eastern ally to EU and the United states, it is a democracy, one which can be an example for other countries in the middle east to follow.
In the high season, Turkey is flooded with tourists from every single part of europe, it is the biggest tourist destination for all of europe due to the cheaper cost and exotic beautiful locations, turks welcome these people with open arms.
I just don't see why people are so close minded about letting them in, how many former soviet union countries have become part of the EU? Countries that are half as developed as turkey politically and structurally? Either way it doesn't bother me, just don't like to see our people being bad mouthed by people that have never experienced it first hand.
What really chaps my ass is that although we are not considered a european country or officially as part of the EU, we still have to play in the european grouping for the world cup games.....if we are going to be treated as dirt, why can't we play against the other garbage teams from the middle east?
