I happen to think it is not, but some people do, and for sure it it is changing. Many programs are lowering payouts, doing it them selves, hiring people in-house etc.
It is my belief that programs and affiliates should work together especially now. This whole post was a response to sending out an open invitation to pay folks who work hard what they deserve; and not receiving one reply to a truly honest request. I don't spend a lot of time on the boards, but it couldn't be so far removed from real business discussions.

That's some funny stuff.... It sounds like a big group of people just clued in that in-house traffic is far more valuable than Webmaster traffic. But without question, plenty of others have known that
The affiliate end isn't dieing, affiliates still produce more sales globally than any other medium online. But our core base of Webmasters has gotten much smaller, which is producing far less global traffic for our Industry.
So to me if they want to put a final nail into the industry coffin, they only need to exclude affiliates even more.
This is the mentality of, build it and they will come... without exchanges, without other sites linking to them, pushing someone or them, ie: Other Webmasters by the 1000's all being part of the global traffic exchange - they wouldn't have any traffic to make sales.
