I sometimes think the government left some clues on purpose. Like the passport, or building 7, for the sole purpose of firing up the conspiracy theories. The thing is, once the conspiracy theories get going, you never get to the truth.
But that's assuming the people behind this (if that is indeed the case) are pretty smart.
But for you older folks you might remember how Howard Hughs was used by the U.S. government in a plot to recover a disabled submarine. Howard Hughs claimed to have built a giant ship to "mine" the ocean for minerals and make billions. He even showed the ship off in a huge ceremony. However, the real purpose of the ship was to find the missing submarine and raise it from the sea floor without the Soviets knowing. The plan worked, but it shows how the government likes to hide it's biggest secrets in plain site.

The point is, the government has no problem asking for and receiving the help of big business to carry out it's covert operations. Take a look at how much some people made off of the twin towers collapse, it's in the billions.
