We were married 25 years ago tomorrow, we didn't have a cake, no wedding, nothing like that. Neither of us were into all of that.... big weddings were a waste of money then and I still think they are.
HOWEVER...... my husband said to me while we were sitting here in the dark in that winter storm, "you know, my favorite cake in the world is a wedding cake and we never had one of those", so I laughed and said I'd get him one on our anniversary and I guess he thought i was playing.....
I didn't make it, but I designed it, and each part is meaningful:
1)The four side cakes surrounding the big one is one to signify each of our children, 4 of them.

2) The Cherub on top, this is what my oldest wanted to put with her Grandfather when he passed away, she wanted to know Angels were with him..... and we did the same with his mom when she passed 15 months later.
3) The heart shapes, we gave of our hearts, our whole hearts and never looked back
4) The lace, we are so intertwined with one another, in every single way, heart soul and mind
5) The Bells - Silver Bells - Silver Anniversary....

6) The roses, they have great significance, while our relationship is as fragrant as a rose, we have had our share of thorns along the way, but we always manage to get past that and back to the beatiful places, no matter what.
7) The round beads, the perfection and roundness of our lives together, not all perfect unless you look at the whole picture.
8) The columns, or pillars.... this is to solidify that we always, no matter what, have a solid pillar to always hold us up thru the bad and good times.
AND, this is what it came out to look like:
Our family has been run thru it and gone thru about every trial a family can go thru, this isn't JUST about my husband and I, it's about our FAMILY!!
I just wanted to share this with you all, my family away from my family.
