yo dude- it varies depending on how much legal help you need to draft the patent and/or deal with office actions. office actions are when the uspto asks you questions during the approval process. there are filing fees as well. it could cost as little as $5k for a real do-it-yourselfer or as much as $50k-$100k for big time legal. yes, michael and i have 2 issued u.s. patents and 7 or 8 pending.
