If the U.S. were to enact a law that grants all U.S. citizens the same and equal rights whether it be a "Marraige" or a "Civil Union" would this not solve the problem???
Why must the gay community be so adamant about the semantics of the word marriage and not embrace the term "Civil Union" as their own? To me this would create the unity needed at the national level to take the issue to Washington via a united front rather than fighting the battle in 50 separate arenas.

Why shouldnt we care about the word marriage you straights have married on tv for entertainment purposes married in vegas and now you wanna say the word is some how to be protected.. I dont want a damn civil union what the fuck is that.. I pay my taxes i want equal rights not special... If i want to get married I want a marriage!
