Yes, that is exactly right. And that is why you really can't just stream video at a real high bit rate.
All the load is on the users cpu. So if I encode a streaming vid at 5 mbs and you have a 10 mbs connection, BUT you have an average computer with a normal cpu and the usual antivirus and other background tasks running...you are going to buffer like CRAZY.
The only way to really stream perfectly is the way ABC television does on their website. You can watch episodes of LOST on their that look just as good as on your t.v. and doesn't buffer or stutter at all. But, you have to download and install an executable file. And neither myself or anybody with any brains is ever gonna do that from a porn site! lol God only knows what kind of shit some of you guys would stick in that .exe file. Might as well just hand you all my money and credit cards.
So yeah...it's the users CPU power that really determines what happens when you watch a stream. Me? I have a Dell T7400 with 16 gigs of RAM and dual quadcore 3.2gig cpu's.
So I can watch any stream and never have a problem. But not many surfers are using a ten grand computer.
And oh yeah...300 money makers.
