A branch manager can usually straighten out whatever is bothering you. Don't rely on their online customer service people - most of them are totally worthless. I've had the best experience by just walking into a bank and asking for a manager.

Dean gets bingo.....with all the people going postal....and the non personal service of working with someone over the phone.....go into the brance.....escalate it if your working with a peeon who doesnt know the code/doesnt want to lose their job to the brance manager....explain your case calmly.....last ditch effort.....just say I would like to close all of my accounts NOW....even if you have IRA's/CD's etc......its a case of short/long term thinking.....most branch managers.....see the long term......and figure they will be able to drain you over the years......fuck if you have enough $$$ already in there.....simple put say.....your making more off my money being in your bank......are you willing to risk it over THIS?
thanks when its a showdown.....also remind them the the customer is ALWAYS right.....unless the customer is an habitual check bouncer.....
