If the data is small enough to fit on a dvd or cd, hook the laptop up to a tv or another monitor....errr, you may actually have to tweak settings on the laptop to do that (nullifying that solution). Although, if you have HDMI out, it may work without having to configure it. Worth a try anyway. Also, if you have an esata port on the laptop and the tv route works, you could use a hard drive docking station (like 25 bucks) and transfer the info to another hard drive. (actually, usb will work with the docking station as well, so it depends on whether or not connecting to a tv works so you can see what you are doing).
