Starbucks review.
Today I was at a Starbucks location, purchasing my nightly coffee. I always grab a Venti Bold and tonight there was no coffee made at the time I entered the building. She told me that I'd have to wait 4 minutes for the coffee to brew. I told her no problem and sat down.
I was happy to hear they were going to make a fresh pot despite the fact they were closing in an hour. They made it and gave it to me. Just as I was about to walk away to add cream and sugar, they told me that they were sorry they had none made at the time and gave me a card that entitled me to receive my next Starbucks coffee free of charge! I said thank you and carried on, with a smile on my face. I didn't need the free coffee, in fact, I was just happy to have my original order fulfilled at such weird hour of the night!
It got me thinking about other local businesses in my area and their level of professionalism. Tim Hortons, Williams and the smaller coffee shops came to mind.
It seems I'm paying 50 cents more for a better product and service. The coffee Starbucks makes is nice and strong, even though many say it's overpriced, which it might be.
Applying this example to adult memberships should produce the same quality to price ratio as in our Starbucks example, but it doesn't. I complete porn reviews for many of my clients, so I visit members areas quite a lot. Sometimes I'll see a site charging close to $30 a month for a membership which prompts me to inquire about the quality of the content and their customer support. Needless to say, the quality and support isn't as good as it should be for the price people are paying on some of the sites I've reviewed. There's no question why the customer isn't rebilling in each case!
What happens with the customer in their experience with a low quality pay site? The customer ends up getting fucked through shady billing practices, shitty content or a bad customer support team (or lack thereof) and is then scarred or turned off of adult pay sites. There goes the affiliate's chance of making money and the company loses a paying customer! What makes you think the affiliate will want to keep promoting such content?
I guess what I'm saying is, GIVE THE CUSTOMER A REASON TO REBILL. I'm sure some of you guys offer a SUPERIOR PRODUCT but I'm talking to those that don't.
Shoot great content, keep your site up to date and charge customers fairly and you'll get tons of rebills! This keeps both the pay site owner and webmaster happy, not to mention THE CUSTOMER.
In this example, Starbucks had a glitch, owned up to it and made me a great product within a matter of minutes because of their awesome customer support. The next coffee is on them.
Starbucks, I won't cancel my membership.
