To me, taking care of an animal is part of the fun and bonds you to them. But I don't see her taking the "hand on" thing with a kid because they are a lot more work. But I have heard about women changing big-time when they have kids, so maybe that will happen!!! Doubt it, but ya never know!!!

I got a 17 month old daughter and a 12 week old Cane Corso.
My Cane Corso is potty trained, sits, stays and knows the difference between his toys and my daughters toys. Because my daughter is cared by my girlfriend 24/7, the dog gets the same attention. Keep in mind my daughter has only been babysat 5 times by someone else her whole life. When my girlfriend wants to go out, i stay home with my kid and the dog.
When people think because they are a good dog owner and thinks it would translate into them being a good parent, i would say that they are truly stupid!!
Nothing can really prepare you for properly raising a child. I used to be a good dog owner 10 years ago when i had a bulldog, but after having a kid, im an even better dog owner because of my kid.
My Cane Corso is 12 weeks old and 30lbs and is expected to be 140lbs at 16 month. His name is "Brutus". Wanted to call him fluffy but the breeder said "NO".
