Government control of the economy is the key to a totalitarian regime. Socialists of all stripes whether they are National Socialists or Marxist socialists all share the common desire to have the government control and direct the individual for the supposed greater good. The difference between Marxist style socialist totalitarianism and Nazi style socialist totalitarianism is only in their rhetoric.
