Exactly right!
I know only 1 in 10 will end up working for me. I have that attitude going into interviews. So work for me, or do not. I do not care either way. I am here to provide you a job offer. Think on it, get back to me. However, I filter out 80% of the people who contact me. I know most are not going to want to do our work.
Luring them in is a sales pitching like any other. Once you have found a way to cast a big enough net, you then need to thin the herd and find out who can do the work, and can't, eliminating those who are a waste of time, and only interviewing those you are 90% sure will and can do what you want.
Like I said, 1 in 10, at least for me and my experience. I, with this economy, have 50 new people a week contacting me. Before this economy, and 2 years back. Maybe 12. However, I know most will not be a job match. So I treat my recruiting as such.
It works like a charm for me to the point I have it down to a science.
