BGTCC - Webazilla sponsored Racing Car

BGTCC - Webazilla sponsored Racing Car

I have the luck not only to host with webazilla for year now, having some 12 servers with them, but also to get some help in the form of advertising for my Racing Season from Webazilla :-)

Intro:
the BGTCC is the Bulgarian Touring Car Championship. Bulgaria is a small country in eastern europe and one of the poorer ones in Europe, thus our racing championships aren't like the ones in the USA, Germany and others, but still, we race and it's fun ;-).

Our country even doesn't have a real racing circuit, but steets in the centers of the bigger cities are closed for 2 days for providing us a track for racing. Which makes it even harder, but mostly as well more excited for us to drive there. The Specators at these Races are in the range of 25.000 - 80.000 per race.

Here the different groups and classes in the BGTCC:
(all classes must comply to the FIA safety regulations!)

group N: very near to serial touring cars, lot of restrictions like 32mm restrictor for turbochargers
group A: like group N, but with some less restrictions like 34mm restrictor for turbochargers
group X: touring cars without any restrictions other than safety

N1, A5, X1, up to 1400ccm
N2, A6, X2, up to 1600ccm
N3, A7, X3, up to 2000ccm
N4,A8, X4, over 2000ccm
(Cars with Turbocharger ccm x 1.7, Cars with Turbodiesel ccm x 1.5)

About my Racing Car:
My car is heavy tuned and modified Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX in the X4 group/class.
The car weights about 1250kg against the 1560 factory kg. 550 HP at 7500 RPM.
Some of the more interesting modifications are:
- Ohlins Professional Suspension
- ported header
- GT3076 Turbocharger
- 850cc Injectors
- Forged Pistons, Rods, Crank
- Tilton double ceramic Cluch
- Drenth Dog Box with Drenth Sequential Shifting System/Kit
- Motec 800 Ecu with Launch Control and AntiLag Modules
- Motec Diff Controler with 8 programs
- Front Brakes 6 piston AP Racing, 360mm Brake Discs
- Rear Brakes 4 piston Rotara
- O.Z. Racing Ultraleggera Rims with Bfgoodrich 240/640/18 pure Slicks
- Carbon Driveshaft
- forged Drive Axles
- Voltex Widebody Kit
and many many other Modifications.

Here some pics of the car:

The Race in Ruse (Bulgaria):

On the first Race i we had a material defect in the gear box and didn't qualify for the race unfortunatly. Therefore we have no pics and Videos.

The next and 2nd Race was the one in Ruse.

Due the late arrivement of the defect gearbox from the first race the car got ready last minute. We arrived at 06.00 morning at the circuit which meant my crew of 4 mechanics and me had only 1 hour sleep.

However, in the first qualifying i noticed some problems with the sequential shifting. When in 5th gear the returning of the gears was not easy, means the 5th goes out but the next lower gears don't get in always as they should which makes braking a hard task. Only 5th time but at least enough this time to get for sure into the starting grid this time.

In the 2nd qualify things wasn't better but at least i know now what to expect. On a single and a bit risky lap where i lost my rear diffuser and damaged the front bumper i was able to make the pole position with minimal advantage.

About the Race. Very bad start, 3 cars overtook me. One of the Cars, a red Ford Cosworth WRC had gearbox problems and had to stop 2 corners after start. So only 2 cars in front of me. A very heavy tuned VW MK2 with 550+HP and another Ford Cosworth with around 500HP. At this point i have to admit that the hardest competitors didn't make it to the Race. A Porsche 996 didn't find sponsors and advertisers for this reason. The last year champion and italian Driver with an Audi RS6 bi-turbo was professionally engaged and didn't participate as well and the Carbon WRC Subaru with 600HP damaged the engine the day before the qualify.

Back to the race, the other Ford Cosworth which was in first position had some gear problems as well in the 3rd round so i easyly could overtake him at the straight. The Race from there was tactically without any further risks as the sequential shifting still didn't work when shifting downwards, later in the race there appeared as well problems with up shifting, 5th gear didn't get in or i had to shift in very low RPM's to get a gear in. Howerver, at the end and due the missing other favorites i was able to win the race somehow with an advantage of only 1.2 seconds.

Here the clips from the onboard camera we made with a rear view. On the next race (Coming Weekend) we will make onboard videos with rear and front view.

Hope you liked the videos ;-)

Again, many special thanks to Webazilla which in such hard crises times had a heart for us and helped us a lot. For everybody interested in there hosting services i suggest to take a look at WebaZilla - dedicated servers hosting ;-)
