Thank you for this post. This is exactly what my attorney said. Of course, he also said pursuing it isn't cheap. I spent 8 solid hours filling out DMCA notices today. Rapidshare and depositfile took the content down nearly as soon as they were asked.
As far as hosting companies that allow clients like messyshare.com and hidebehind.com, my attorney sent DMCA forms. I also wrote emails. AdvancedHosters.com is the listed isp for two websites that are set up for the sole purpose of filesharing. There may well be more. I even found my own isp hosting a file sharing website! (I called my account manager on the phone for this one.)
Holy cow, I could spend 40 hours a week on this! In fact, I will probably end up hiring someone to do this. I'd go broke spending all of my time this way...which is probably what the maggots who who set up file sharing sites count on.
