Well when you offer 1 big prize you only have one guy that is happy and spreading the good words, when yoy offer 5 smaller prizes you have 5 ppl spreading the word, and still very happy(my guess)
I also join easier a lotery with more small prizes then one big prize(although I still never have won anthing hehe)
