The only applicable stats would be the HIV infections in porn. Comparing "Average Joe" getting a shitty cock and then going home and fucking his wife is like comparing apples to oranges, the numbers pool is greater when the possibility pool is an entire city, state, country, or world. Inside the porn biz the numbers pool is much smaller; and both AIDS outbreaks seem to suggest that switch hitting is a dangerous mix inside the industry, so I agree with Donny on this point.
I will not stereotype gays but could it be that the pornography business might attract more wild lifestyle gays, the kind of stereotypes the gay community often fights against and stereotypes that don't statistically apply to the gay male community at large? If the gay talent in this industry were to report they sleep randomly with 3-4 different non porn gay men monthly, throw all the worldwide statistics out the window -- those stats don't apply to this kind of situation.
