You would have to pay per month $15 for 7 years to make it to $1500
Very reasonable.

There are some sub $300 scripts that appear to do everything initially offered with this one. I've just never liked having to pay a recurring charge for a script. I'd rather pay an upfront amount and get it over with. I think the monthly should be an option for those that may want to start on a shoestring budget and they should have a separate one time fee per domain option.

You can make the comparison in price as long as you make a fair comparison on features.
Mechbunny's script is unencoded, and you own it completely. You can change it or customize it in any way you see fit.
You can pay K0nrad to do this for you, or, if he disappears off the face of the earth (which has happened with developers, coders, hosts, and just about every other type of person in this business) you're not left high and dry. You can just hire a new php coder and move on with your life and not have to change backends.
It's also built to scale very easily in a load balanced or cloud/cluster type of hosting environment.
Basically, if you want to build a real, and large, tube site, you want the Mechbunny script.
If you want to build dozens of circle jerk/mgps that look like tube sites, then the Mechbunny script isn't the one you want.
