The torrent technology may be legal, but making copyrighted work available for millions of people will never be legal, nor should it be.

The copyright holders in this business seem to think that because something illegal
can be done via torrents, that torrents should be
illegal altogether, or that you should have to prove you have a right to something in order to create/seed/download a torrent, or that some other onerous restrictions should be placed on them.
Yes, infringing on someone's copyright is illegal, however, it's not the torrent tracker sites fault, torrent search engine's fault, or youtube's fault, etc...that someone is using their technology in an improper fashion....nor is it their job to be the internet copyright police....anymore than it's your ISP's job to monitor your emails and chat logs to make sure you're not a predator or that you don't rip someone off on ebay.
