Like they say... "if it sounds too good to be true"...
These people had it coming.. but like other have said before, it was the greed factor that kept perpetuating this whole debacle, which is the same thing for any pyramid scheme.
Anyone who ever questioned how the system works, got shot down and told to shut up and keep cashing the cheques, or they could have all their money back with no more questions asked. Well you know how that turned out.. everyone shut up and put up, and now they got what the deserved. Those who had half a brain, got the fuck out.
