Gonzo porn or gonzo journalism?
Gonzo generally in anything means you're a loose cannon, you break the rules, out of control.
In journalism, gonzo journalists cover subjects that they get involved in themselves, they are not detached observers as journalists are taught to be. Hunter S. Thompson is supposedly the inventor of it. His stuff reads more like fiction than truth but that's the point and his craft I think.
Gonzo porn is sort of the same idea, it broke the rules of all porn that came before it. Before gonzo porn XXX movies were like mainstream movies, a plot, people playing characters, loops were vignettes i.e. pizza man knocks on the door, lady in negligee open door, 'oh dear......... i seem to have lost my purse' BOOM CHAKA BOOM BOOM - suck, fuck THE END'
The father of gonzo porn is Buttman. He threw away plots and all that other stuff. No plots, written dialogue or characters - you are watching a professional pornographer doing his work, the girls don't have a character to hide behind other than their stage
name.
Now the ironic thing is that Bangbus and all the copycat sites that came after it are called 'reality sites' , supposedly more amateur than the movies made by the video studios. No way - the 'reality sites' is 'vignette porn', MILFHunter could be 'Pizza Guy', everybody's playing a character, the only difference is the attempt to create the illusion that what they're seeing is reality. 'Fake reality' sites is what they are. Ed Powers is far more reality than Bangbus.
Buttman, Ed Powers, Seymore Butts - gonzo auteurs.
But now gonzo porn just means porn without any plot or written dialogue. It's also cheap as hell to produce. Scenes are shot in
the offices of the porn vid companies, warehouse, people's houses, anywhere will do.
