I think some cities cut back on the celebrations due to the economy.

Some of our local cities did hold the normal celebrations. But I do not know if they were as heavily attended as they have been in previous years because of peoples mood on the economy. I hope many families looked at it as a chance to get out for the day and finish with some top rate entertainment for the kids.

I didn't realize how many people have access to an impressive array personal fireworks. I was driving around the SF bay area later last night and you could see them here and there. I assume these were private citizens because most of the cities had already completed their shows. They were sure pretty.
