I'm not doubting an icecube can injure an eye. And as for the statistical probability that it doesn't commonly happen - get serious. 45 years on this planet and I've never heard of such an occurence - that's the basis for my common-sense probability. Again, I'm NOT saying it can't or hasn't happened - but the likelihood is extremely small.
Yet we commonly hear stories on the news of head injuries (even seemingly minor ones) that result in coma and death.

We can toss semantics back and forth until the cows come home - it won't change my resolve that you don't physically acost a female for something like having a drink thrown at you. Had she thrown a punch or caused the guy to feel the need to defend himself - that's a different matter. In this case he went after her in retaliation - a misguided attempt to play the big man and save face in front of his buddies.
