People in rural areas are always more friendly I find, and while I haven't visited PEI or nova scotia yet, I am told that the people there are EXCEPTIONALLY friendly and hospitable...I can't wait to head out there myself and experience that area of Canada myself
Do you speak french? If so, it might be one of the reasons why. Plus, you live there so you are biased.

I was born in Montreal (NDJ to be exact) and have spent a lot of time in Montreal as well as up the 15 like St Jerome and Sauveur. I have been all along the St Lawrence and can honestly say that generally speaking francos treat english speaking people like dog shit on the bottom of a shoe.
