1. It is bankrupt, like many blue states. It has billions of unfunded pension liabilities also.

2. It is the most Catholic state in the country.

3. It may be the most politically liberal state in the country.

4. It was a big Hillary state in the primary, like West Virginia. Also, like WV, there are many uneducated welfare folks and blue collar people who control a large portion of the voting block.

5. It has very high taxes.

6. It is famous for its political corruption and its cronyism.

7. The public sector unions run the state.

In many respects, it is the Appalachia of New England.

It is a great place to visit in the summer, but living there is a living hell.

Be very careful if you plan to visit and break any laws. The laws are enforced very unevenly. It's all about the politics. If you are an average guy you will get royally fucked, but there is virtually no prosecution of corrupt officials, except by the feds, and those investigations often fizzle out.
