think about this. the PR tool bar scale is presumed to be a logarithmic scale based on the the known minimum page PR (.15) and the maximum (whatever page or X number of pages, online has the largest value - i.e. the top of the scale).

a PR0 represents a value of .X - X, a PR1 represents a value of X - XXX, PR2 represents a value of XXX-X,XXX and so on... with each new minimum PR level being exponentially greater than the previous minimum PR level.

this means that two sites which are PR3's can trade links... and one is certain to pass a larger value back.. but that value could also be 10 times or 20 times greater than that which it receives. (depending on the true PR value of both linking pages and the total number of outbound links) - so even when two sites show the same toolbar PR... there is still going to be a winner and loser in that trade.

if you link to someones PR 1 blog with your PR3 blog, he benefits and you are draining PR from your own sites pages and sending it to someone else's sites pages. i.e. he is giving you X and you are giving him XXX. this can also happen if two PR3 sites trade links because you don't really know the true PR value of each page or what the value being passed to you vs what you are passing out.

if you have a PR0 blog, the main index page might have a value of less than 1. i.e. - maybe .56 or something. This means that value of less than 1 is being divided across all links to pass PR out. ... so any given link (and that list will get large) is going to get its tiny share of less than 1.

that link trade is going to hurt any site and benefit him tremendously. he might manage to rally up enough PR in the end to pass a fair value back to you.. but why would you need to take that chance? him getting to that point, comes at your direct detriment.
