Back in my school days (70s) I remember we typically had 1 or 2 overweight kids in every class photo. That was it. They stood out from the group like a sore thumb.
These days, my daughter's class photo(s) looks like a group shot from a Jenny Craig 'before' session. The thin kids are the obvious minority in the crowd.
I take that to be a sign of the times.
And that's here in Canada - not the U.S. - so I'm assuming overweight issues aren't confined to south of the border.
Both the U.S. and Canada have become consumer nations - powered by fast food junk restaurants. The typical family unit has shifted away from the old-fashioned homecooked meal around the family dinner table ... to Wendy McHarvey's drive-thru window.
