Hey guys...just wanted to share our experience.
On Claudia-Marie's site I shoot every scene we've ever done. And we use 90% amateur male talent that have never done it before. We lived in South Carolina until Oct. of 2008 and that's all that was there. Just "normal" guys who had never done a porn video before but were fans of CM.
I've never had a "fail" on any scene yet. Every guy came in, got it up, did the scene and gave the cum shot.
I think part of it is the girl involved (her attitude, not how hot she is). For instance, CM actually loves having sex. Not many girls in porn bring that kind of enthusiasm to the set. Most of the ones I've been on set with are like they are punching a time card. If the director stops for a second to adjust lighting, take stills, etc. the girl turns off like a light switch. I guess they think they are being "professional"
CM doesn't do that, she keeps right on going. Doesn't sound like a big deal...but it is if you're the guy naked in front of the lights trying to keep your dick hard.
Also the directors don't exactly help either in a lot of cases. When I started back in 1995 it was as a male talent shooting with Brian Lambert for the original Naughty Neighbors video series. And back then there were no fluorescent lights...it was all tungsten and about a million degrees in the room. And everybody shot to film with two actual film cameras (no camcorder stuff).
There were usually at least 4 guys working the room while you were trying to keep your cock hard, your mind focused. And then Brian would make snide remarks or do shit deliberately to make you lose your hard on! lol
And it was the same with every director I worked with. It didn't make much sense to me. Time is money and yet they would go out of their way to fuck with the male talent to try and make them lose their hard on.
That's why when I started shooting stuff myself...I made up my mind to learn from all those things and make sure I didn't do that too. I'm much happier having a 100% success rate than being able to swap stories with other directors about male talent failure or how only guys from the agencies can shoot porn.
I guess I'm trying to say...it is possible to shoot amateur male talent if you have the right girl and you keep the set stress free and sex-friendly...loose feeling without getting too businesslike. Setting the stage for real sex to take place while maintaining control of the set the whole time.
I think having male talent that aren't "pro" has actually been one of the many reasons we've been so successful. Real enthusiasm, real desire, real fireworks...as opposed to the stunt cocks who walk in and "fake" it.
