AppleŽ today announced that Eric Schmidt, Google?s CEO will no longer be on Apple?s Board of Directors.
Apple CEO issued the following statement:
?Eric has been an excellent Board member for Apple, investing his valuable time, talent, passion and wisdom to help make Apple successful,? said Steve Jobs, Apple?s CEO. ?Unfortunately, as Google enters more of Apple?s core businesses, with Android and now Chrome OS, Eric?s effectiveness as an Apple Board member will be significantly diminished, since he will have to recuse himself from even larger portions of our meetings due to potential conflicts of interest.?
The final blow was the FCC began investigating Apple?s (AAPL) rejection of the Google (GOOG) Voice application for the iPhone that allows users to make free phone calls.
The move is good for both companies as the two companies grow in more direct competition with each other. Apple might seek a director with experience in the enterprise market as Apple makes a corporate push with the iPhone.
