There are acceptable things to debate, then there's the lunatic fringe -- holocaust deniers, 911truthers and birthers -- "amazingly" there is a lot of overlap. You dont' have to respect anyone that talks about such nonsense.
Ironically, they actually give more power to the president, b/c they take up the oxygen that legitimate critics need to state their cases. Further, most of those legitimate critics refuse to dismiss the birthers -- as a result perhaps? independents are beginning to poll more and more like Democrats.
