The Obama administration and Congress' approach to health care reform may be receiving less support because it becomes less clear what the goals of this reform are supposed to be.
According to a recent CNN/Opinion Research Corp., poll, 50% of Americans approve of Mr. Obama's health care plan while 45% of Americans disapprove. Mr. Obama aims to increase health care coverage for an estimated 47 million uninsured Americans. The Administration is pursuing this goal in light of a looming federal deficit whose increase is partially due to the increasing costs of Medicare and Medicaid.
